I have been looking for information on this guy for quite some time. I get a creepy feeling from his pictures and when I have watched his videos I am just disgusted by him. I am not now or have ever been involved with his cult, but my cousin is in hook, line a nd sinker. She is a very intelligent woman but was very vulnerable when she was first introduced to one of the recruiters of this cult. It quickly became an obsession that led to running to ashrams around the world, alienation from her family, quitting her job, divorce and selling her home etc etc. I am scared for her because she can't see the danger that she is in. What does this jerk do to his devotees when they run out of money to pay for his bullcrap? Kick them to the curb? (one can only hope) Leave the families to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives? I wish that someone would slap that "stupid I've got you over a barrel, poo eating grin" off his face. I truly hate to look at his picture because he just sickens me. Has anyone else got family or friends brainwashed by this guy and what does someone do to save their lives?

To everyone... Here are some basic truths.
Patanjali was the person who is supposed to have compiled the Yoga Sutras. Most of the teachers have used that and taught their disciples the same over several centuries. Pabhupada - ISKCON, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda, Bhuddha, Sri Sri Ravishankar - Art of living, Jagadguru Jaggi - Isha Foundation, Ramana Maharishi, Swamy Nityananda - Dhyanapeetam are all teachers who have decided to create movements to get people to start living the life without the impact of ego, worldly desires etc.
Looks like many of you are looking for cheap tricks to take away your body pains, illness etc.
Most of these gurus who are dead had disease in their bodies. Enlightenement has to do with the Soul, victory over the mind and good upkeep of the body to support life.
You cano choose any guru as long as your path is towards living a good life. If money and gadgets rule your life, you will never be happy and you will never win anything...
Look at Bill gates, he has enough and more money and only looks to give it away. Warren Buffet has a charity too. There is only so much we can do with money. Most of us abuse our mind, body and soul trying to get all that money, car, clothes and still remain unhappy.
Meditation, control over the mind etc helps us lead a happy life.
Stop wasting your time and focus on whats important for you. No one is telling you to waste your hard earned money on Nityananda. Attend his session, understand the meditation techniques, sit at home and use it. Why leave your job and join the ashram? No one forced you into this. There are so many of us who just go on with our Corporate lives. Just that we are lot more stable, less angry, more contended, at peace with ourselves and the world.
Some people take extreme measures, are unable to adjust to a hard life and then jump. Just like so many of my friends who came back to India after getting their green cards or citizenship and could not adjust. It is the same life that they lived for 30 years. Just a 10 year stint in the US has changed their perception about life. Do what you can handle. Not every can be a Usain Bolt. Know your limits. Meditation helps you understand yourslef better. Thats all. Enjoy life and be happy.

I came across this summary about the cult of Nithyananda in a YouTube play list. I found it to be very accurate to my own experience. I will share my own experiences in a future posts.
The Brainwashing Cult of Nithyananda - Spiritual Fraud!
(YouTube play list from fakegurusmustdie)
The Cult of Nithyananda is a classic case of organized fraud. This cult leader, the so-called Paramahamsa Nithyananda, entraps innocent victims into his web of empire building by using psychological, financial, and quasi-legal methods to obtain finances and a free source of professional labor. Nithyananda has established an illegal immigration racket exploiting his nonprofit religious status in the United States.
Nithyananda is very dangerous and should be deported from every single country that Nithyananda has established himself in. His criminal organizations have defrauded individuals, tax payers, and communities of millions of dollars, and his fraudulent 'nonprofit' organizations are known as the Nithyananda Foundation, the Life Bliss Foundation, and the Nithyananda Vedic Temples.
Nithyananda lures people in his trap by using spiritual truths, meditation, yoga, and healing energies, and then does a 'bait and switch' approach. What candy is to a pedophile, Vedic Truths are to Nithyananda.
Nithyananda's biggest lure is the promise of enlightenment. By tricking potential followers that he can give enlightenment just by attending expensive programs and donating huge amounts of money, Nithyananda has secured a loyal following who are more than willing to 'live a lie' and to 'spread a lie'. Nithyananda's crimes amount to collective and organized fraud.
Just as a wolf in sheep's clothing, Nithyananda cloaks his energy as divine source... but actually Nithyananda's energy seems to be the darkest of tantric power. Close followers will note that most of his stories involve death, graveyards, and ghosts. Not exactly wholesome stuff.
Unlike other legitimate missions such as Ramakrishna, etc., none of Mr. Nithyananda's claims of enlightenment including Nithyananda's horoscopes, etc. are verified and have been made public. His birth certificate of being born on January 1st is in question. There is absolutely NO transparency with this organization. There is only a legion of enthusiastic followers claiming that all of this is true. Not exactly hard proof.
In public, Nithyananda places a humble and holy front with a boyish grin. In private, Nithyananda is abusive and is known to host attractive females (both married and single) alone in his quarters for hours. Nithyananda is not what he seems to be.
Imagine this. What if a convicted child molester, rapist, murder, burglar, con artist, and arsonist donned a Santa Clause suit, and then won the confidence of trusting people to have him stay in their homes? This is exactly what Mr. Nithyananda has done on a spiritual level. Mr. Nithyananda's bag of toys is not only as empty as his promises, it is full of dangerous traps and poison.
Nithyananda's impact on families has been severe. Divorces, financial ruin, broken careers, prolonged hardships, and undue stress have resulted from being involved with Nithyananda.
Please take extra caution if approached by any followers of Nithyananda's organizations, and it is best to avoid Nithyananda altogether.

Hi Everyone,
I also just came across this blog about Nithyananda and Nithyananda's cult:
The Truth About The Cult of Nithyananda
or
http://nithyananda-cult.blogspot.com/
If these things are true... Yikes! Nithyananda is then even scarier than predicted. Maybe it is just because Halloween is around the corner... but seems like every day is Halloween with Nithyananda around.
Happy reading.

Hi Escaped,
Thank you for your update on Medhananada on the other Nithy thread. I saw the Senior Disciple video on Youtube - that one I found.
However, I can't find the spicy fire puja pictures on the web. If you have a link, please post. I cannot follow the embedded picture to the original page.
This story about Medhananda is indeed sad. His behavior sounds like sleep deprivation and brain-washed. Do you or anyone know Medhananda well enough to email him what you wrote on this forum. Someone need to let him know - even if he isn't ready to hear it. I hope he and his sweet wife get out of this trap and be a loving family again soon.
Glad you escaped.

I have a relative, 21 years old nephew that attended his workshop/program this summer at the Ashram. They deprived him of sleep and food. He came back after 2 weeks and after spending $5000 and he was speaking a whole new language.
Do you know of anyone that has gone through deprogramming? My nephew left school and is confused.
We are all concerned and scared for him.

Hi Alisab5, You can google about cult deprogramming or cult exit help. Since your nephew was only there for 2 weeks, may be he can recover on his own.
"The Guru Papers: Masks of Authoritarian Power" by Joel Kramer and Diana Alstad was helped me understand cult psychology when I escaped this cult. It may be worth a try.

Hi Alisab5, I hope your nephew gets better. He was supposed to become "enlightened" or had inner awakening in these workshops. If he paid $5000 (or was it USD $6000 ?) and didn't get enlightened or became awaken, the family can sue for money back. If your nephew became emotional harmed as a result, the family can sue for damage. A lawsuit is one way to expose this destructive cult and take it down - even if you are willing to forget about the money!
Nithy caused the psychological casualties and the families have to pick up the pieces.
